Its been several years since I've been seen at a dentist due to a bad experience that left me terrified of going back. I recently moved to the area and have been searching for the right dentist. I saw south shore online and read the reviews and figured I would give it a try. From the first moment i walked in the door the staff were so welcoming and comforting. I need extensive work done in my mouth and was embarrassed to even have my mouth looked at. The dental hygienist jenna I had was truly amazing walked me through everything they did. Took her time explaining everything in detail and throughout the entire visit made sure I was 100% comfortable and not scared. I met doctor Burt for the final leg of my visit to go over a treatment plan and he was amazing as well. He went over in detail what his plan was for me, what he recommended, and what he thought would be the best course of action. Very upfront about cost. Not once did I feel pressured into going with a certain option. Thank you to everyone I dealt with at South shore dentistry, and thank you for restoring my faith in going back to the dentist!

South Shore Dentistry's family dentistry services will keep your family's smiles healthy, confident and bright. Our Weymouth dental team emphasizes the power of preventive care and effective oral hygiene habits to protect your smiles for life.
We recommend a complete dental checkup and hygiene appointment every six months for each member of your family so we can stay ahead of any potential oral health problems.
During a regular dental hygiene appointment, our dental team will thoroughly assess your family's teeth and gums for any signs of gum disease, oral cancer or tooth decay. If we see anything concerning, we will fully inform you and answer every question you have about your dental treatment options, or options we present for your child.
South Shore Dentistry is proud to be your family's partner in protecting your oral health – and in promoting your overall health!
Our South Weymouth dental office offers a full spectrum of family dentistry and preventive dental services for everyone in your family, including:
Preventive Teeth Cleaning
A preventive dental hygiene appointment is an important measure to help stop the progression of gingivitis and periodontal disease. During a preventive teeth cleaning, one of our dental hygienists will thoroughly clean your teeth, removing plaque and tartar buildup. We recommend our orally healthy patients receive this type of professional dental hygiene procedure twice a year.
Pediatric Dental Checkups (age 3+)
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentists (AAPD) advises that children have a dental checkup and teeth cleaning every 6 months. These regular pediatric dental visits allow Dr. Burt to closely monitor new changes in your child’s mouth and ensure that you, as a parent, have the information you need to promote continued oral health in your child.
Our pediatric dental team may suggest additional checkups if your child is more susceptible to cavities, or if your child is showing signs of orthodontic problems. We are happy to start seeing your child for regular pediatric dental checkups after they turn six!
Teeth-Strengthening Mineral Application
Teeth-strengthening mineral application is widely used by dentists to help support healthy tooth enamel. This treatment can re-mineralize weak areas of tooth enamel, keeping them more resilient against bacteria and is safe for both adults and children.
Oral Cancer Screening
Tobacco users aren’t the only ones who should be concerned about oral cancer. Oral cancer is on the rise in both those who use tobacco and those who do not. That’s why at South Shore Dentistry, we provide oral cancer screenings as part of a regular dental hygiene appointment to all of our patients who are over the age of 18.
Desensitizing Treatment Options for Sensitive Teeth
Do you experience pain and sensitivity when air touches your teeth or when you try to enjoy cold foods? Tooth sensitivity doesn't have to be a constant part of your life! If you, or a member of your family, are suffering from overly sensitive teeth, ask Dr. Burt about our desensitizing treatment options at your next dental checkup.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are used to seal off deep grooves in the molars that are vulnerable to tooth decay. Dental sealants act as a guard against cavities by forming a “shield” over the enamel of your teeth, keeping out bacteria and acids. Dental sealants can be very effective in preventing cavities in children and teenagers, especially those who wear braces.
Athletic Mouthguards
If you or your child are involved in any type of sporting activity, wearing a custom-fitted mouthguard is one of your best pieces of insurance. Not only can a mouthguard protect teeth, it can also reduce the risk of concussion in both adults and children.
Gentle Tooth Extractions
Extraction is a last resort, but sometimes it is necessary. Badly infected, damaged, or decayed teeth can jeopardize the health of healthy teeth and gums.
At South Shore Dentistry we make tooth extraction gentle and anxiety-free by offering oral sedation or laughing gas to patients who need to have a tooth extracted.
Sedation Dentistry
Do you suffer from anxiety? Do you or your teen have special needs that make it difficult to sit through dental procedures? South Shore Dentistry offers the following safe sedation options to help make your time in the dental chair a comfortable one:
- Laughing gas
- Oral conscious sedation
- Conscious IV sedation
Sedation available for most patients ages 14+ following consultation from our dentists.
